If your house feels a little dated, a renovation can add a fresh look. But a remodel is better if you need to update your home’s functionality by, say, knocking down a wall to create more space in the kitchen or putting up a wall to create a nursery. Remodels tend to cost much more, often at a factor of 5 to 10. Renovation can give you the feel of a remodel a fraction of the cost, especially in the kitchen
. Pic above is the the previous stained cabinets. Kitchen was dark and dated and clients had had enough. Here's our latest renovation of their kitchen, including new Shaker section, countertops, handles, refinishing, and tile. More to come later!
So this really transformed the space in a more welcoming and modern space. New handles accentuated the new cabinet color and the red tile is a welcome splash of bold color in the overall design.
There's always a few issues adding new to old but we work hard to update the present systems so that there is symmetry between the original work and new work. As a whole, this cost the client far less than ripping everything out and starting over. Being a chef, he didn't want his kitchen shut down for months and the costs much higher.. We were glad to help over a 3 week period. Renovation is sometimes the better option when budget is limited or structurally you might not be able to knock down a load bearing wall so options are limited. This was a condo (so knocking out walls wasn't really an option) in the really nice coastal neighborhood of Bixby Park in the great city of Long Beach!
